OK I think I might have found my problem. I stated in another post I can run at full throttle and the prop hardly spins. I notice tonight that the rod out of the lower unit with the ball on the top wasn't hooked up at the top. I understand that's the shift rod. If it's not connected and just hangin in the air. Will that make it act like it is. Although it did shift, but hard. Is it possible it's not going into gear completely or maybe not at all? As I said the prop was checked and ity's fine. So what else would make it act like it won't spin. When shifting it feels like it in gear. You can put it in gaer and turn the prop and the motor turns over. Really need some help on this one.

The rod with the ball is only to engage the rev, lock dogs, pull the unit to tell if it's the unit or the linkage

I had the unit off to replace the water pump. That's when all the problems started. I first put it together and only had reverse. Took it apart and back together then it would lock into forward and reverse. So I took it was ok. Can it still be off that it would need more adjustment?

Basically if the rod was not connected the reverse lock dogs were engaged all the time and I was shifting into forward, therfore forward and reverse were working against each other. Could that cause the problem of no speed from prop?
