Shift Rod disconnect 99 J115PLEEM

Swapping the lower and can’t get the shift rod to disconnect. What is the right way to get it disconnected? I reviewed an online manual but not making any sense to me. Thanks.

If it is like my '98 Johnny 150HPV6 (60*), you must first remove the airbox. Next pull the clevis pin on the starboard front side, under the lower carb.

Now look down the horizontal rod where the clevis pin was, to see where the shift rod meets it. Use a screwdriver to slide the linkage left, to release the shift rod.
