What is VRO?

Off Topic: What's the point of the "hosted by tripod" graphics? It looks like a less than personal touch, unless YOU are tripod.

Re: shift rod removal!!

Jeff...the shift rod screw can be removed using a 1/4inch drive set and universal joint. Us a long extension to get to the screw. I put a piece of tape in the end of the socket to hold the screw in the socket. You can move some of the wire harness' and fuel lines to get at it. Removal of the carbs is not neccessary. You'll want to shift the engine into forward also to make the screw easier to get to. I beleve forward anyway. If you can't see the screw, shift into reverse. Early morning. Mind isn't really engaged yet.

Re: shift rod removal!!

Jeff, if the shift rod is disengaged from the shift link, and the lower unit has dropped, it should come right off if the shift rod screw is removed. If the shift rod screw is laying on the bench, pull down on the lower unit, could be the water tube is a little corroded or the drive shaft splines are stuck. PULL!

Don't use just generic grease. Use gin-u-wine lower unit lube.

c/6

Hooty
