Hello all. I am replacing a bent prop shaft on my new to me 2018 Mercury 150 4 stroke. During disassembly, the shift shaft was difficult to remove from the lower unit. Now during assembly, the shift shaft won’t go back in. It seems to get bound on something about 5/16 short of being seated.
The motor shifted fine before disassembly. It’s not binding up on anything with the prop shaft, as it still binds with the prop shaft and shifting mechanism removed. Any ideas? Am I forgetting to line something up or a piece?
