the last few week I'm having trouble getting my boat into forward and no problem going into reverse.

' when i put my leaver into forward position it will not kick into gear until it revs up to about 1300rpm... I have adjusted the cable and its fully in gear at the outdrive. I cheaked the gear oil last week and i put new oil in and i only filled it up to half way on the dipstick.
anybody have any idea what this could be.

Thanks Colm

i agree with full string. if its engaging at 1300 r's its WAY too fast. you want to be at idle (475-600) when you shift into gear. if your r's are too fast when it wants to shift thats alot of gear grinding if you ask me!!

Mine is doing the same thing. I adjusted mine all the way in on the drive end, and it needs to go further in. The cable is bowed when in neutral.

I pulled my shift cable and it is original (Dec 1994 manufacture date). It's cracking all around the drive end of the outer plastic and the metal outer cable is broken on that end as well. I've got a new cable ordered. Hopefully it will fix it.
