I have recently bought a boat with a volvo penta leg 270 shifter cable not there have no idea where it goes or how to connect it.Can any one help photos would be a blessing
Remove the rear cover.2 screws.
Inside is the shift arm.
In the middle is a hole the cable gets secured there and in the front of the hole on the front of the drive.
The bottom cover screw comes out, the top cover screw just needs to be backed off several turns.
Inside the transom there is a sleeve on the shift cable that is looped above the waterline because the shift cable is not sealed against incoming water. If you don't have this sleeve/loop you could have water getting into the boat.
