I have a 2007 Doral 8.1OSI whit SX drives.
It has separate Forw. rev. shifters and throttles.
When engine is not running there is no problem whit the shifters, but when engine is running, the port shifter is really stiff just before I try to get back into neutral from forward or reverse...

Can this be a cable problem on a 07 boat (2 years of salt water)??
Why only when engine is running??
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Shifter problem 07 Volvo SX drive

Hello there,

I had the same problem with my 2007 sx drive (3.0ltr),
I found that the cable can seize quite rapidly if in salt water especially the drive end.
Also something worth looking at, my problem was actually a slight kink in the outer cable where it attatches to the drive.
I removed the cable completely and run a load of grease down it, working it backwards and forwards, and straightend the out collar.
Other than that you will need to start at the control and disconnect the cable, then try the controls, if not do the same at the drive end and put the drive in forward and reverse manually, If no probs, your fault lies with the cable im afraid.

Thanks seventeen2,
Know my problem is that the boat is in the water.
Guess i will need to take it out since i was told the cable runs directly in the drive...
