Shifting from Forward into Reverse

[Maxum 97 2300sc]

So I changed the Impeller and took the boat out. When in Forward I have to Go about 10degress more to get it to engage and when trying to go reverse the lever will click into neutral then I have to use both hands to go reverse. Once in reverse it will make a conk sound and then go in reverse. very hard to dock. I have read other posts . It may be the lower shift cable? Could some one help with the precedure? Or any other ideas what it may be?

What type of drive do you have?? Sounds like an Alpha.

If it shifted correctly before the impeller replacement..............I'd look for issues with my drive re-install. It's not likely the lower shift cable went south that fast.

Thanks. I'll Take The Lower Part Of The Leg Off Make Sure The Drive Is Aligned And Reinstall It.

everything is fine???
Im going to take it out on Saturday. I topped up the gear oil. I think it hepled.
