Hello, I have a 2001 Glastron 249 GS with a 5.7l Volva Penta. This is a new boat to me as of Friday. When going from reverse to forward or forward to reverse it does not go into gear right away. I pause in neutral for a couple of seconds then move it to the gear and nothing. I give it a little more throttle and it slams into gear hard. Are there shift cable to be adjusted or is it all electronic. Also the remote is different on this boat vs my Rinker v170. I assume the button on the base of the remote is to disengage the gears so I can move it forward to start the engine. Am I using to remote wrong?

I just had a similar issue on my boat.
The outdrive went into reverse just fine but forward gear would not, it had to be revved up a bit to engage.
This condition got worse quickly every time I used the boat.
It turned out the my cone clutch was worn.

I'm not saying this is definitely your issue, but you can't rule it out yet.
With your engine off, put the boat in gear and try to spin your prop by hand
Normally it will lock up in one direction and spin freely in the opposite direction.
Try that in both forward and reverse.

Get your money back!
Or ask for $2000 - 3000 off.
You are describing a glazed cone clutch.
