I have a 1983 sea swerll with a OMC 5.7 eng. And I am having trouble getting it to go into forward gear. I can grab the linkage by hand and get it to go with a little help. but it wont go in like it should. I have tried adjusting the linkage. But I have it adjusted as far as it will go one way. And it needs a little more. Is it just worn out or is there another place with more adjustment I dont know of?

Have you done the nominal neutral adjustments straight from the manual ?

Something is amiss because going into gear is the easy part , out of gear is when things get tricky

I would unhook the remote control cable from the converter box and move the shift arm by hand and see of the problem is still there
