I have a volvo 280 leg and i am having some trouble shifting into forward. i was looking at my manual and i think i saw that there is a adjustment screw on the leg for this. i took the cover plate off and was looking at the cable and linkages and it all looked good. the adjustment screw or what i think is the adjustment goes into the shift box. my question is should i play with this screw or do i stand a chance of putting water into my lower end?
i was reading some of the posts on shifting problems and everyone seems to say just replace the cable. the boat shifts into reverse alright just forward is a little stiff coming out of neutral and going back into neutral.
any help would be appreciated on this matter and tight lines.

Re: shifting prob

Don't mess with that "Adjustment" screw, it has nothing to do with going into gear, only coming out of gear.
Have you checked the drive to make sure there isn't water in the gear lube?
Disconnect the shift cable at the drive, and see if you can shift it into forward by just turning the shift mechanism.
