I have twin OMC 5.7 I/O I was out the other day and I hit a wake kind of hard and lost my forward gear on one engine it was like it sliped out of gear into neutral and so the tried to put it into reverse and there was also nothing. Now the gear will just stay like it is in neutral and do nothing else. I dont know if it would just be a cable or the low end. Please any ideas would help. This is my first boat so I am kind of new at this type of thing any Ideas would be great!!

It would help to know what kind of OMC's they are, Stringer or Cobra as that will make difference on who tries to answer your question or at least what year are we talking?

it could be the engine coupling which turns the drive or something as simple as a bad prop hub

the first thing your going to have to do is be sure that the drive is still being turned by the motor and then work from there

the year and model of the drive will help get a better answere

tommays

The Boat is a 1979 I know that but I just bought it this season and I want to check the records I have to see if it had been repaired or replaced.
