I been having a issue with my engine not wanting to shift into reverse easy and hope someone can come up with a fix. When the cables are disconnected from the engine the cable moves smoothly so it is not binding, then I can take a screwdriver and push it into reverse on the engine. It seems a little tight but I don't know how easy it is suppose to shift either. I had to drop the lower unit to replace the water pump impeller so don't know if something got out of alignment or not or if something else is going bad on me. It runs fine in forward and then I have to really tug hard on the lever to get it to go into reverse but once it goes it backs down okay too. So if you hardy mates have any suggestions please throw them on me.

It sounds like the reverse lock down cam is damaged or the reverse pawl and cam need to be lubed
