shifting problem

Replaced propeller in lower unit,reinstalled what I thought was the correct way but took boat out for a test and propeller worked good but forward was reverse and reverse was forward .Have not tried sugestion from threecylinder yet but will tomorrow.Thanks

By "Propeller" I assume you mean impeller in the Waterpump that you replaced. If the gears are backwards, you have re-assembled the upper and lower shift shaft in the wrong position. You need to select the gear that allows the reverse locks to release. tilt up the motor and set it there. Now move the remote until the L/U is in neutral. <br />Remove the L/U. Now shift the remote the the neutral (Vertical) position. align the shift shafts and pull the reverse hooks down.re-fit the L/U. Put into forward and reposition the motor to upright postion, Now try the gears.
