I have a 1988 bayliner capri with a 2.3 ford omc and cobra outdrive. I recently replaced the plastic end piece on shift cable for the lower unit. The problem I have is it goes into forward and reverse with no problem. However, when I try to take it out of gear into neutral it stays in gear. If you jerk the shifter control hard enough it sometimes will come out of gear. The shift assist module does click after sometime of putting it into neutral. Does this sound like an out of adjustment cable, bad shift assist, or cut out relay bad. Please help.

Re: Shifting problem

wow...a month gone by with no one offering any suggestions. I am having a problem with my shifting as well, and am beginning to wonder if I will get an answer or not.
