I'm currently trying to sell my boat, and have an interested buyer that would like to have it shipped. The problem is, neither of us have ever shipped a boat. Has anyone ever shipped a smaller boat (19' bowrider) and trailer across the USA? Any hints, shipper recommendations, or cost estimates?

We shipped our 35 footer from nc to south nj. They took down the flybridge and prepped everything, and I belive it cost us $2300.

Check with Uship. Or talk to some local movers. They may know of a company who can quote you some prices.

Uship works, if the buyer picks the right guy.

Leave it all up to the buyer to choose, arrange, and pay for the shipping.
Probably gonna cost 1.25 - 1.70 a mile, or more. Plus tolls, and more if its going to the NE.

Take photos of the rig just before it leaves, photos of the shipper and his vehicle as well.

Make sure all the cash in in your pocket before the boat moves an inch.

Make it the buyer's responsibility to ship the boat (not yours). Ownership (funds, documentation, etc) should change hands at your location, not the buyer's.

Uship.com is probably the way to go. It is sort of like the 'ebay' of shipping.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far guys. I've done this before with selling cars but never a boat, but I 100% agree. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility, nothing happens until funds are verified in my bank account, and the boat is considered sold when it leaves my possession.
