I just got a new (to me) boat. I had a Lawrence elite 4 on my old boat and loved it so for my new boat I bought a hook 5 gps/fish finder. On this boat I would like to mount the transducer in the boat.

What type of epoxy should I use?

Dose anybody have any experience with mounting a transducer like this? Is it reliable?

I'm not a fisherman. I just wanted the gps, speed and depth. The boat I'm putting it on is a 96 mirage 257 with a 454 mag and bravo 1 out drive.

Thanks

Dave

I used west system 650-8 G-flex epoxy for my shoot-thru install. Worked great, reported depths are very accurate.

It's a slow cure epoxy, which is what you want for this type of install, because it allows any air bubbles to make their way out of it during the cure. The trapped air under the transducer face is what can mess with your depth readings.

I used 5-minute epoxy I had on hand. The key is not to have air bubbles in the epoxy when you mix it
