I want to use a 2 battery isolator with my shore power charger so that two 12 volt different amp-hours batteries can be charged simultaneously. Will that work? That way won?t have to buy a second charger. Opinions?

I think there will be issues, and the reason is there is a 0.7V difference between what is being output and what is seen at the battery. It will charge both batteries so that part is OK, the issue will be that the charger will not see full charge so it will continue to push more. Now if it will be checked periodically, then this may be a non-issue

the isolator is nothing more than two really big diodes epoxied into an aluminum heat sink. the 0.7 volt drop is the voltage drop across the diodes. and that 0.7 volt drop is about 40% of the charge (12 volts being fully discharged, and 13.6 volts being fully charged)

you can play with sensing wires, etc. with an alternator, however a charger doesnt have separate sensing wires

have you considered an ACR?
