As discussed before my motor cavitaion plate sits to low by about 2.5" to 3" I have already extended the transom by 2". I could get a plate made up and extend it higher but I'm concerned that I'm putting to much stress on the transom not to mention I'll be screwing up the center of gravity. I'm already at the max Hp for the boat.
Is there a kit available for making a long shaft motor to a short shaft?

Re: Short Shaft Kit?

springbok,If your outboard has a 5" extension mounted to the exhaust housing,it can be removed, and a shorter shift shaft, drive shaft and water tube installed.Best bet would be to find someone that made their engine a long shaft and has used parts left over.If you do not have the 5" extension...I don't think it feasible to do all the work that would be needed.
DHP

You did not tell us what motor you have or what it is mounted on so it is kinda tough to provide meaningful input. So a shot in the dark - What problem are you trying to solve?? Reason I ask is that I have a 13' tin skiff that calls for a short shaft motor. I run a 9.9 long shaft on it just fine thank you very much. It may violate the "rules" but works just fine.
