Look in the "Top Secret File" at the top of the page, there is a list of salvage yards there, I bet one of them can help you out.

thanks Daviet,,i found list of salvage yards. i have never change a short to long before, not to sure just what i am about to get into and have not found any threads on the subject. a couple of boat repair shops told me i would be better off to just buy a different motor

Well there are a few things you have to change, driveshaft, shiftshaft, water tube, and install the extension.
On the older motors they made extensions for everything except the driveshaft and it was pretty easy to do the conversion.
On the newer engines you have a lot more work to do to install the parts. The repair shops were probably correct if you were going to pay them to do it. If you enjoy working on your engine, get the factory manual and read through it and see if you think it's something you can do.

If you can find it you want the following kit;

392002 — EXTENSION KIT ASSY.. NOT SHOWN 5 INCH (127MM) LONGER PARTS

You can also use this link to find the individual parts you will need.
Evinrude Gearcase Parts for 1988 15hp E15ECCS Outboard Motor

It would be cheaper to find a used 1983 to 1988 (I believe those are the compatible years) either 9.9 or 15 horse long shaft outboard. Depending on the condition of the outboard you find, you could either use it as a donor or you could use that one instead and sell yours. If you find a long shaft 9.9 you could swap powerheads.

changed it to long shaft and test run this past weekend for couple hours everything was good. 15hp evinrude runs as fast as i want to go in 16ft boat only problem i found was could not get into 1 place without dragging motor that i could with short shaft.
