I'm going to be getting a new prop and the splines need to be shorten,I got a good idea of what this involves but i figured some other members might be interested in this.I'm going to take it that they drill out the splines for the washer and nut to fit is this right?going from mercury prop to a johnson motor.

Re: Shortning Splines

They just go in from the front (toward the gearcase) and drill out the splines to shorten the length. The prop will fit on your shaft now but it will just bottom out way before it seats all the way forward. The splines on the Merc & Yamaha are much longer than on an Evin/John.
