Wondering if I could shorten my shaft on my current Minn Kota PowerDrive with the out obviously buying a new one? I have a composite shaft. Is it possible to do this right with out giving it a redneck jimmy job?

As long as you don't cut the wires that run down it, remove the head and do your thing. Just make sure everything is water-tight when you button it back up.

How many wires are in the shaft housing that I would have to reconnect?

Sure you can splice them. But if you cut the top of the shaft and the wires at the same time, you can't get down into the shaft to splice them. Probably just two wires to splice but if you play your cards right, you won't have to. Cut the shaft and work the excess wire into the shaft.

I would just deal with it! If you cut it you will void the lifetime warrantee.
