I have a VRO system on my 1990, 90 Hp Johnson. THe fuel line has a filter, but there is nothing on the oil line. Should I install some type of oil filter between my oil tank and the VRO pump? I guess the fuel filter will clean my gas, but what guarantees the cleanliness of my oil?

The oil tank should have a filter inside. Since most owners don't know it's there, it is seldom replaced, but it should be.

If you navigate to the parts diagram for your VRO oil tank, you can see the filter in the diagram. http://evinrude.cust.shopatron.com/
