should I buy a 1999 115hp Evinrude ficht

I've heard good and bad, this motor never got thr ecu upgrade kit, has 150 hrs, and has never been back to the dealer for service work.

I think I'd first see if my local dealer is even interested in servicing it. I've heard (no experience) that this can be an issue.

OMC went bankrupt because of all the trouble with those engines.
If you are willing to do all the recall work and other upgrades,you should be alright,otherwise steer clear of trouble.

I wouldn't recommend getting it because it has too many hours without any service.

OK lets get this straight, the V4 Ficht (90 and 115) never had an issue, they perform as they should, there are a few updates that can be done, some got them done, some did not, the only Fichts that had problems were the V6 and especially in a couple of HP models, but all the V6's had a lot of very necessary updates, and they should have been done, but as with any second hand Engine, get it checked, but do not be turned off by the adverse publicity, because on the V4 it is entirely hearsay and untrue, however it may effect resale later on
