Should I expect to get these scratches out? **PICS**

Bought the boat in the oxidized condition you see of the left. Right hand side of the boat has had 3M Compounding, 3M finesse it II, Starbrite polish with PTEF and then I waxed it. This was my fist time restoring a gel coat and I didn't want to ruin it so I took my time and didn't use a ton of pressure for fear of burning the gelcoat. There are a few more scratches like this around the boat. Should I attempt using 2000 grit sandpaper?

I'm not sure you'll be able to sand or buff out scratches of that magnitude. I could be wrong!

That's what I assumed but I figured maybe you guys might have some magic tricks up your sleeves. I guess I should be happy considering what the boat used to look like before and how good it looks now all shined up. But now that it looks so good those little scratches drive me NUTS! Maybe I should have left it oxidized to hide the scratches! :lol:

What you could do is get a Gelcoat patch kit and try your hand at mixing some gelcoat paste to match that color and filling the scratches in and then buffing them out. It's not the easiest thing to match gelcoat but might be worth a try. You can get a kit right here on iBoats...Seacare Gelcoat Repair Kit - Evercoat 108000 - iboats

try wet sanding the bigger area then buff it. it might help that area, as far as the other scratches looks like you need that gel coat kit mentioned above.

Ok I will look into a gelcoat repair kit. I will do a search here to see if I can find a how to.
