Should I paint?

I trailer my boat and was wondering if I should paint or just leave it? There are a couple of spots where the gel coat is wearing and some cracks, so it would benefit aesthetically but I think that would be about it. Any thoughts? Also, would it be wise to fix the gel coat before I paint of does it not matter?

The gel coat is 20 mil thick and can stand quite a bit of sanding with 1200g and polishing compound. With some elbow grease you could
make her shine like new for a fraction of the cost. You could also use some gel coat repair to fill holes, cracks and refinish the wear spots.
