OK, here's what I have. A friend of mine called and asked me to fix his boat. I asked what was wrong and he said that when he puts the muffs on it and runs it, looks like water leaks from a freeze plug on the engine somewhere. First of all this is a Mercruise and he thinks it's a 140 or 150 hp, 4 cylinder. And second, now you all know what I do about this fix. Well..........should I go ahead and mess with it or is there something someone knows that I should. Like it's a nightmare, don't get involved, I've heard of this before, I know what it is etc. So if you can help, know what it might be, please let me know. Sure does seem like my friend doesn't even know what he has. Just said, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhit's a Mercruiser, believe 140, 150 something 4 cylinder.
Bottom line is, he needs help, came to me and I'm gonna do what I can to get'em goin.

Hi Bearcamp,

Freeze plugs (more accuratly casting plugs) are easy to remove and replace, if you can reach them. If that is all that is wrong, I say go for it. I wonder if it is a head leak though and just looks like a freeze plug leak. Not as easy to fix, but still doable.

I should think you would get a better response if you posted this question under "Mercruisers".

regards,
fp
