Should I run the engine out of fuel

Hi everyone,

I was talking to my brother in law and said that it is better for a motor if you run the gas out of it. Is that true? Should I disconnect the fuel line quick release and let it run until it runs out of Gas.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Regards

I prefer to drain the carbs on mine because it gets all the gas out of the float chambers and removes any water or debris in there. Just running the motor out of gas will leave some gas, water, debris still in there. Good Luck1

How many carbs does your engine have? A multi-carb engine should not be run out of gas, the carbs should be drained.

Thanks for the replies,

I have 2 Carbs (2000 50 HP Johnson). I appreciate the feedback. He's not a mechanic that's why I posted it here to get some more experienced opinions.

Have a great day.
