I'd say that if you have the notion to sell and you have a buyer, sell it! There will always be boats, highly motivated sellers and boats you'll like even better than than the one you now have.I had my boat out 3 times this year and lat year like 5 times . Family things keep getting in the way of me and my boat and we all know family comes first.
I had this discussion with a buddy recently. His boat is long paid for, he incurrs no storage or slip fees, and he really likes his boat. He purchased it new in 1990, and it's a quality boat- Crestliner run-about fish/ski.
He decided to keep the boat, even though he only uses it a couple times per year. I asked him with his current financial situation if in a year or two he'd be able to buy a new one if he sold this one and decided to get back in, and it's not very likely that Mrs. Buddy would support that. So for him, the decision to keep the boat was the right one.
He's looking forward to teaching his youngsters boating.
I hear you on the motorcycle thing. When shopping for mine, the salesman told me it was easier to ask forgiveness than permission! I think he was a pretty successful salesman. Mrs. Brewman61, however wasn't terribly amused.
This isn't you, is it Brew?
No sir! I'm not selling my bike. It saved my arse this year when I hydrolocked my car engine (yes it's possible) and my car was in the shop for the entire month of July! Bike was my primary means of transportation. Lucky it didn't rain much.

like a couple others have said in other posts, hop in it even parked in the garage once in a while, crack a beer, and enjoy the moment.
