I sprayed a urenthane enamel outdoors today. I wore goggles and two thick 3m masks...wore long sleeves too. I sprayed only a quart of the stuff on..so about 15minutes of spraying...I am worried I hurt myself by doing this...am I just panicking for no reason and it has been over 12 hours since I sprayed. thanks...

I've done worse, a lot worse, and I'm still here.

Next time, wear a respirator.

i wouldn't recommend doing that again but your probably ok , if your lightheaded or nauseous then you have something to be worried about. still not a good thing for the liver and kidneys but most serious problems come from long term or repeated exposer

Probably not the healthy thing but since it is a rare occurance you will be fine.... people use roll and tip for painting just because it is not as bad.

Relax, no harm done. My dad used to spray without a respirator all the time in the old days. Not a great idea, but you are OK. Next time wear one.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: should I worry

depends a lot on which paint... note that if you cover the skin like you did and us new 3m combo organic vapor and hepa particulate cartridges in you can spray pretty much anything with good ventilation. For the nasty paints, just make sure you DON'T use your cartridges and that they're new / fresh(as in not sitting out, etc...).

yer probably ok... :)

a simple urethane enamel is not a NASTY paint is it? I feel fine and it has been about 36 hours since I sprayed...

Re: should I worry

Most of what you sprayed went into the air the other part went onto the surface you were spraying.Don't worry it takes a lot of spraying(8 stright hours) and inclosed area to get sick, and it is the fumes that mess with your mind not the paint. As long as you are outside SPRAY AWAY:D:D

... one of the signs of urethane poisoning is repetitive reassurance, and also looking like this.

Re: should I worry

thanks guys again...I was really worried, but now I am okay. Over active imagination. I think after three days I would have had problems breathing or something. Thanks again and I look forward to showing you my finished boat.
Peace.
