I just replaced the impeller on the mentioned engine and put everything back together with new gaskets and what not... I started to verify working condition of everything.. Water comes from the pee hole on the back at idle.. Which it did not do before changing the impeller.. The one I took out looked to be fine.. But here is my problem.. I can't remember if it was like this or not before.. But it looks to me like I have a lot of water coming from places it didn't come from before.. It was coming from around the anode's on the back of the lower unit.. and was streaming out of the hole over top of the speedometer tube.. I can't for the life of me remember if this was doing all of this before!! PLEASE HELP! I had the feeling that if it was coming out the pee hole, everything should be pretty good.. But I cannot for the life of me remember this other water coming out.. Thanks!

I'm confused.
Your motor has a speedometer tube? Anode is bolted-on,so see if the bolt may be missing?
Or do you mean the exaust snout, which also is sacraficial metal, and if so, yes, it is supposed to sputter out with the exaust also.

But that speedometer thing has me baffled. I would drain/refill the lower unit, and inspect the old lube for signs of water. If it is clean lube, you should be fine, as if it got into anyplace else it was not suposed to,you would stop dead.
So I'm fairly confident, your engine IS ok,provided the l/u looked good. Be sure to use new gaskets on the fill/vent screws.

Hey, thanks for the reply.. I had actually just changed out the lower unit lube before I replaced the impeller.. Here are a couple of shots of the motor.. Lower Unit Schematic Driveshaft housing...

On the first pic.. The anode's I'm talking about are #12...

On the second pic. the speedometer pickup is at #7 and the tube running to the gauge is #6....

Also to note.. There is a very small hole over the oil fill level plug that had water running out of it after I shut the engine off.. Although I feel like that may have always been the case with that hole.. I have water coming from the enhaust snout, and out the pee hole.. So I think everything would almost HAVE to be right.. I may pull it back down again tomorrow to see if I missed something... Or maybe this new impeller has a lot of pressure behind it and it just looks like a lot more stuff is happening?!!??
THANKS! :)

Started and tested again this morning.. Everything looks to be ok, the only things I am questioning is the water coming from the shift rod goes into the lower unit.. It is splined there and water will run out of it.. Also the hole that is a little above it.. When first started there is nothing coming from there, but after about 15 seconds, water will start coming out.. Like it is building up and starting to run out of there.. Also, there is a hole on the lower unit that is basicly above the exhaust snout.. there is a nice stream of water running out of there as well.. I'm fairly certain water should be running out of there.. Thanks for any input you can give..

Smoothsl,
There is a seal on my Force 125hp, 88 engine that the shift rod comes out of. If I am correct, this shouldn't be leaking, because you would be loosing water pressure going up to cool the engine.

I had to replace this little seal. It was very small, but had to be tapped out, as it was a pressed fit.

Not sure about the other hole you are mentioning though.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox

I have taken a picture to help make things clearer and hopefully be able to get a better answer.. :) I don't believe there is a seal that goes around my shift rod... maybe up top, but not around the LU on this one... Here is a pic...
