Should water come out each side of Alpha 1 outdrive when on muffs?

Put my boat on muffs and noticed water was exiting on the right side but none on the left. Is this typical? I think I remember water coming out each side in the past. The water that was coming out the right was fairly hot. Like couldn't keep my hand under it more than a couple seconds. Motor is a Mercruiser 140 if that helps.
Thanks

inline engines usually only dump out one side of the idle relief ports, mainly because you have one down pipe off the engine and the water is flowing pretty good towards one side

as long as its pumping good water and the engine isn't overheating you should be fine

The idle relief ports come out of the exhaust passageway at the bottom of the transom plate. They go both sides out those holes you see. There is no reason it should come out one side more than the other since the exhaust passageway just before the relief ports is one pipe. Purpose of the ports is to reduce the back pressure when the boat and drive are in the water. The exhaust having to escape a couple feet down through the prop increased pressure too much at idle and the ports were designed to correct that.
