Hello, I just took my toilet out and though hull fittings.
The problem I have is what to use where the toilet sits, there was plywood but water got in so im planning to use fiberglass but cant find any thick enough to support the toilet.
Plan to provide drainage though the stringer so if water does get in at least it can escape.
Want to level the floor and provide a shower drain to a shower box/pump in the bilge, just not sure what to use to make the water drain to the right side. any ideas?
so far I have thought of bondo, with fiberglass layed over that and gelcoat.

Hey Ooops nice progress on your swimstep!
thinking of layering glass on some wax paper and adding some ply for the toilet to sit on with the edges cut to 45, when its dry cut it to fit. then, glass in the corners. that will do the top
for the floor i think ill sand and bondo then sand it smooth with the drain in place and masking tape on it after all the glassing is done use bondo and sand smooth then brush on gelcoat.

Re: shower install help

forget the bondo bud......lordco has a short strand poly filler.....(waterproof).

it sands tough but it can be done. im using it right now on the final faring of the cap.

once you have the shape. you can gellcoat and sand as smooth as you want.
the wax paper works great.....it is all over in the next set of pics i will post

Re: shower install help update!

Re: shower install help update!

went to check out industrial plastics and paints, gos some unwaxed resin and some heavy mat, and layered 3 pcs on wax paper the saturated this cabinet ply, and put one more layer on top, now i have my toilet base.

Its just warm enough to kick
Tomorrow i have this idea!! cut mat /or cloth in thin strips and form it around doweling wrapped with wax paper to make inside corners.
I want to end up with smooth corners like this fancy head don't know how but I'm going to try!

Also going to get some of that shortsrand poly filler and level the floor
found a shower pump that will fit in my bilge just need to get a good price and need a drain that should go in before I start leveling.

Progress so far

Progress so far

Trimmed the ply for the toilet, its fitted in and ready to glass, sanded the floor and made a maple step to contain the water. Hard to see but the floor has one coat of glass around the perimeter and the drain hole is in (its out of sight) Floor has a dip so i got some 3M waterproof filler and next i'm going to fill the floor with the drain in and taper so water will hopefully drain....hopefully
A shower pump kit is $125 here on the island  so i'm making one out of a plastic Tupperware box for $7.99 I like it because it has a flip tabs for access!
I have a rule pump and got a float switch and a bilge pump kit so I'm all set for about $50 bucks

Re: shower install help

Got some longhair poly filler to fill the hollow part, then used poly glazing putty to level out the floor. also plan to use it to prep for gelcoat everywhere I glassed,
Im sure gelcoat is the thing to use for the floor pan but not sure what to use for the walls, I was thinking of enamal paint.

Nice job! That looks like it will stay nice for a long time.

When you take a shower, and the water goes into the drain in the floor pan, where does it go from there?

Oh, I get it. I thought the box was under the head. Now I realize its in the center of the boat . Nice setup. How well does the head work?
