Hello,

I am a very guilty owner of a 2000 Ficht 225 that I have not maintained very well. I've owned it since 2004, and have just decided to get serious and maintain it like I should. The first step involves replacing the water pump , plugs, lubing it good, decarbing, etc. I bougth a Sierra impeller, but when I got the old housing off, the gaskets were shot, and the small O-ring that is THINK goes in between the top of the impeller and the pump housing/liner is shot. The aftermarket kits are a good $20 cheaper than OEM, but I don't know enough about them yet to know if I should stick with OEM or not.

Also, what type of gasket sealant do you guys use? The previous kit was installed with a yellow, slightly stiff/hard sealant.

 Any opinions?

not maintaining a Ficht is the worst thing you can do. there have been some computer changes, for these motors, and the OEM service center can tell you if you need the upgrades. i like oem parts for critical parts. impeller, tstat, carb kits, fuel pumps.
