What could I expect using sierra parts on my outdrive instead of the pricey merc stuff? U joint, gimbal, bellows and such

Just my own opinion, but anything internal related like gimbal, u joints, etc I use the real deal. If failure is going to cause major damage(which any of the listed will) its worth it to me to go the oem stuff. Not that the Sierra stuff is bad but its not merc stuff that the merc engineers designed and were paid millions of dollars to do so. Depending on the item sometimes there isn't that much price difference. Its good quality stuff(sierra) and millions use it every day, kind of up to you, but there is a reason its less money.

You can pick up the u joints wherever you buy auto parts. Here's a link showing the right part numbers to ask for: U Joint part numbers

On the bellows, I would agree that the OEM seems to be better.... but I am not certain of that.

The main thing is the shift cable. The OEM cable from Quicksilver is much better than the aftermarket ones.

Sierra doesn't make their parts. They buy them from companies like Merc, rebrand and sell for less. They also buy in large qty so they get a good deal and pass the savings on to the consumer. If you have doubts then use the original stuff.

That is pure BS. Where did you hear that one at.
Having used both, I know for a fact things like bellows, gaskets, shift cables, do not fit very good, and they don't last as long.
Bearings and ujoints aren't made by Mercruiser or Sierra or any of the marine manufacturers. They are made by bearing manufacturers.
