I bought the kit and I was wondering what some of the contents were. There is 2 little squares of black paper. And the little cylinder with something black inside. I thought maybe the paper was for cleaning the points? And the other was oil for the oiler wick? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

The capsule is cam lubricant. No, actually, you swallow that pill 15 minutes before installing the points. That dialates your eyeballs so you can set the points without a feeler gauge. (I hope you realize I'm kidding--DO NOT swallow it)

They changed the lube several years ago and now if you swallow it you get the dilation along with the green apple quick step...!!!!

I would have assumed that the pieces of paper were antirust paper to protect the new points during storage and transportation.

It is true though that the points when fitted must be cleaner than a clean thing
