Sierra vs. OMC/BRP Impellers and WP kits

I've got a new to me 1993 40HP Evinrude that needs a waterpump rebuild just so I know where it stands. My question is, is the Sierra marine WP rebuild kit and impellar inferrior to the OMC/BRP WP kit? There is a $20 difference in price, but I dont want to cheap out if the Sierra parts are cheap junk. Thanks

i have used both on wy 150s the sierra uses a orig to seal the drive shaft at the cup.intead of the seal in top of houseing .iuse sierra now because to me they work just as well and like you said for the difference i can buy a coil or something .i believe in buy factory original parts were money allows
but have had no problems with sierra parts

i have had problems with sierra impellers, on something as important as the impeller and Tstats, go OEM BRP parts.

Totally agree. This is no spot to use aftermarket..

hey tash i havent had any ill effects what kind if probs have yall had ill stop useing them i do believe in factory parts just curious

i had to change 3 impellers in one week, on one motor. they disintergrated.

I have used AP/Serria parts for over 16 years and have had only 2 impeller failures where hub unbonded, and they paid me for a complete rebuild on one and all the labors to repair. Serria has the BEST warranty on the market..LIFE of the vessel on which installed. Just my .02 cents
