Just installed and test ran my '95 115 faststrike, It looks like water in one cylinder, I noticed what looks like some sort of silicon based goo around the head and no visible gasket like my old '76. Is this normal?

# 4. Yep. Some early production had a problem with the "U" tube tin the adaptor plate. The new design plate will not allow water back up there.

Simply change the adaptor housing to a new style. The 60 degree motors use O rings.

BTW -- does the water get in the cylinder while you run it or after you tilt it?

Re: Silicone on head?

It was laid on its side on a pallet for quite a while, and I put it on this morning, I havn't really used it enough to say if its a running or tilting deal, I took the cover off the front of the carburators and it had some small amount of liquid rolling around in it maybe it sucked some up from there, I drained the carbs out for the heck of it. Thanks for the info--

OK, keep an eye on it. Are you going to clean the carbs before you put it under a load?
