Silly OMC Model Question.

I have learned what an Electric Shift Stringer is.

I know what a Cobra and King Cobra are.

What are models 400 and 800? Where do they fit in the evolution? How do they shift ( cable vs elect)? etc?

The 400(for 4cyls) and 800(for V6/V8) was the replacement for the elec shift beginning in '78 and ending in '85 (Thank God) The first couple of years they had an oil pump and were hydro/machanical shift,then became full mech shift. All were cable shift, stringer mount drives, and upper box was similar to low profile elect shift,lower similar to OMCs large OB gearcase. And if I think about these any more my head is gonna explode. 'nutcase
