I recently got me a fix-er-upper - for free!!!!!. Best I can tell its an '86 mariner, built by yamaha. Got it fired up very breifly jusy to see if it would. It ran, so i guess i will put some time / money in it.

Don't laugh..... but how do I run it on a hose?????? It has no place for the ear muffs like my older Johnson. It does have a bolt near the oil overflow that says "flush" I believe. Is there an adapter that is made to connect the hose here???

Once I get it on a hose, i can run it a little more to check things out. Need to also find me a tiller arm and she'll be good to go.

Thanks for info.

If it were me I would use some sort of container filled with water such as a clean barrel or trash can to run her in rather then trying to use a hose. It is a lot easier.

Do yourself a favor, before you go any further. Do a compression check on that motor.
Check the lower end fluid for water intrusion.
Just trying to save you money. before buying things, you may not need.
I have a feeling that the tiller handle will be hard to find. I could be wrong.

The flush plug is there for motors that are run in salt water and won't do you any good for testing.
