i know it would probably be cheaper to get the hull that you want instead of redoing one. but im just wondering. i was fixing a hole in my hull and while i was laying on the ground looking at the hole. i was wondeing if anybody has ever made a tri hull into a V hull and how hard would it be to do.

Bob's comment was basically asking "dude are you high?" :)

Switching the hull type would be possible, very, very expensive, and nutty. People have done crazy things, though.

I'd suggest starting with the hull type you want vs. trying to change it.

I quoted your seat mounts in another thread a few minutes ago. Your doing good work....... stop staring at the hull and get it done :)

Re: silly question about a tri hull

Hello m8..

welp..first off getting a modded V on your VW and make it structurally sound with the hull would be very extensive.. think stringers..bulkheads..transom mods..drain system..accessibility..inside/outside lams ( gutting the whole inside of the hull for lam access) ..etc .

No Problem .. just bring it on over with your pockets filled with cash. ( oh.. make sure they are the kakie kind with pockets down the legs too ;) ).

However..creative thinking like that could one day line your pockets with gold..

YD.

Re: silly question about a tri hull

I think it would mostly depend on the hull you are starting out with. The hull on my boat is close to a V, but you'd have to take out the faux tunnel hull aspect of it to get a hull that would plane and handle properly.

I think that would be the biggest aspect to consider from an engineering standpoint. I think you'd have better luck turning a Tri hull into a Jon boat.
