Can I 5200 my bilge pump rather than screw mount it? I hate drilling holes into the hull.

Why not 5200 a piece of wood down and then screw to it instead?

I know I hate drilling into my hull.

I'd coat the wood with some resin first.

Wouldn't the wood keep the pump off the bottom, and then it would have x number of inches of water in the bilge always. ??? A relatively thin layer of 5200 would keep the pump at almost the lowest possible level I would think.

Re: Simple (?) bilge pump question

In the Freestyle Jetski community, we use 5200 to attach dual bilge pumps in the bottom of the bilges all the time.

these ski's take more of a pounding (including inverted landings) than a boat would ever take, so I would have no hesitation attaching the pump this way.

Clean the area with acetone, then use some 60 grit sandpaper to scuff up the area, and once attached, allow the pump to cure for the recommended amount of time before hooking up the hoses and using the vessel.

Re: Simple (?) bilge pump question

i used some marine epoxy from lows.. comes in a tube mix the black and white than lay it down.. i took the base off. sanded it up a little sanded the spot of the bilge. than put a bunch of the epoxy on the bottom of the base stuck it down there than went around the edge of it. let it sit for a couple days cuz no sun or much air movement on it. worked great so far
