Im replacing the stringers and transom in a 1993 Tidecraft Wildfire. I have spent the last month reading post from others and have learned more than enough. My question is what type of fiberglass should I use for the stringers? Most post differ on layers and types. The original stringers were only glassed to the hull and the wood was sealed in resin, but I am going to fully encapsulate them. Along with the stringers what kind of glass to use for the Transom? The origional was 1 inch thick but im going to "beef it up" and make the new one 1.5 inches thick. All the grinding is done now im lost on what the best glass for the location is. Thanks for any help getting rid of the confusion.

I saw you wrote "All the grinding is done now"
just a warning.. you arent done with the grinder just yet :)

For my stringers..
I tabbed then in place with 1.5 CSM 4 inch followed by 6 inch widths
Then two 1708 biax to beef up the sides.. increasing the overlap onto the hull
Then i am capping the stringers with 2 to 3 layers of CSM

Transom..
Tab it in the same way with the CSM followed by 1708 tabbing followed by a full two wraps of the 1708.. It will last you quite a while if you seal all your through transom holes properly!

Definetly read the link Davinciman posted.. you will learn about wet out table and a bunch more about transom / stringer layups
