I know this question is too simple, but I can't seem to find instructions for changing the lower unit oil on my '85 YAM 90HP. Would someone please point me to a link or provide the step-by-step.

Very much appreciated!!!, thanks, john c.

Loosen the vent plug to relieve any pressure, remove the drain plug and then remove the vent plug and let the gearlube drain.

Fill from the drain hole til it comes out the vent hole, put the vent plug in and then the drain plug in.

Re: Simple Question: Y-90 lower unit oil change

Willy,

Thanks very much for the step-by-step. In addition to the drain plug at the bottom, I have two plugs at the same height which read "oil level" and "wash." Obviously the "oil level" is for level during a fill operation as you describe. I'm assuming the "wash" plug is used for cleaning, are you aware of a procedure for using it ?

thanks again, john c.
