With the big W creeping up and wanting to bleed a little more out of the season, I thought it would be a lot easier to open one petcock instead of removing 6 of those silly blue wingnuts.

Has anyone made one of these or can you buy them? What fittings or hose could you use if you made one?

I have a 2001 Merc 4.3L V6 EFI with fresh water cooling.

Thanks

skidim.com sells a quick drain kit, but i believe it is still individual 1/4 turn ball valves.

i think it would be cheaper to make one.

I think you are askig if you could connect all the drain points to hoses and drain all of them from one valve.

Does not sound like it would be worth the effort to me and you still need to disconnect hoses at the thermostat and oil cooler/power steering cooler heat exchanger for proper draining.

If you are looking to extend your boating into the early winter then either put an enclosed electric heater (no exposed heating elements) in the engine compartment or even the old standby just place a 100 watt light bulb in there.

Either one will keep the compartment from feezing under moderate temperatures and I've used both sucessfully well into December.

While it would be easier, it might end up costing you an engine. When you do each drain seperatly, you can verify water came out of it and it isn't plugged up with some sand or rust/scale. Even run a wire into the hole to make sure it's clear. With a single point drain you wouldn't be able too.

Thanks for the input, guys. I guess I'll keep dumping the water from the 6 wingnuts. Not that I would convert this boat to closed cooling, but would a Merc Horizon / closed cooling boat be better for extending the season?
