size of orfice in carb.NEED HELP

HI All I have a E225txcda it will only idle at 1500 rpm got to checking the carbs. and found o33&046 in the idle orfice is their any reason someone would put this big of orfice in the carb??? I just got the boat been waiting the biggest part of 66 years to get a nice boat(205e Hydro Sport)and start living the dream Omc book calls for 014&020 have read a lot post on this site that have helped solve other issuses anyone please.

You have an '86 engine, the first of the 225 loopers. That year there were various carburetor problems with it and various changes to them over the years. You will need to find a dealer who is familiar with those older motors and has the service literature and service notes from back then.

those orifices you mention are air jets, not fuel jets, so size does make a difference

Are you checking the idle while the boat is in the water, or on a flushing hose? If on a hose, the idle rpm will be much higher and louder.

Thanks seahorse for the reply/ checking wile on muffs 1500_1550 in the water 1150 in gear 950 it will run allday at this if I bring it down to 650 7oo it will not idle over acouple of min. pull plugs they are wet with fuel. Im just getting use to it but its got a good hole shot and wot at 5500 play with trim and jack and she levels out at 6000 no problem the center fuel jet is 62D havent check the upper or lower thanks again.

Have decide on a course of action will order jets that omc parts manual calls for and try them if have problems with them will drill them out until i get the results im looking for 650-700 rpm at idle in gear I have equitment to make jig to hold orfice while drilling etc. IF THIS dose not work I WILL up date hate to leave post open with out problem solved.
