My cavitation plate has a small peice broken off at the front of one side. The skeg also has a small piece broken off. Is there any way to fix these>

Hey dst, There are a couple things you can do: 1) Do nothing, take the boat out for a ride and you probably see no difference in the operation, 2) Have a welder aluminum weld pieces back into place which may require some metal filing to the new alminum pieces, 3) Purchase a skeg repair kit a bolt on item. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks Dude. It is on an old boat that I just picked up and I am going to try and sell. Just don't want to give someone a bun deal.

Hey dst, To give you some idea as to what happened to my 140hp Johnson with 2" off the bottom of the skeg. No noticible change.

In real life, the only thing the skeg does is protect the prop.

c/6

Hooty

Not as worried about the skeg as much as I am the cavitation plate. Supposedly it had no effect on the boat it is now on. This is a 76 model 85 HP Evinrude. Thinking of replacing my Mercury 115 with it and selling the Merc.

Like Dude said, if the dinged-up cav plate effects the way the boat handles, it's fixable.

c/6

Hooty
