Skeg guard

Bit confused here... I own a 1984 sea ray monaco 187 it has the mercuriser 228 ( gm 5.0 305) and what I believe is an alpha 1 out drive I want to get a skeg guard and online says the pre alpha drive till 84 and in 85 they stared alpha 1 I don't know if mine has been switched before or not but it definitely seems to be an alpha 1 drive and not pre alpha but fines this even matter when buying a skeg guard or do they not have the same skeg?

you have an MC1 drive or an Alpha drive. there is no such thing as "pre-alpha"
