would anyone recommend buying a repaired skeg or rewelding one on. a replacment or protective skeg supposedly doesnt have to be welded on and is easier and cheaper than welding. any ideas.
SkegGuard is an alternative, but not as good as doing it the right way. It's not as strong and shears off much easier. I mean two little screws compared to inches of aluminum? No contest!
Then again, you can fix it right now and be on the water as opposed to sending it out and having it done in a week or two. You can always do it the right way in the off-season.
how badly is it damaged, i've been running 10 years with a damaged one. it had a good nick out of the front lower part, took the grinder and feathered it out., it's still long enought to protect the prop.
