Im looking for a replacement skeg for my 1969 25 hp Johnson motor. Can anyone help me out with what years and what HP will fit my motor? Also, is the inside of the bottom part of the skeg hollow, or solid. Will I need to worry about anything getting into my lower unit from a bent , or cracked skeg?

Re: Skeg

the skeg is solid aluminum.

and what jb is suggesting, is that if yours is chipped or broken, simply bolt this onto whats left and youll never have to fix it again. stronger than new!

Re: Skeg

Nutcup22, you may be confused on what the "skeg" is.....it is just the fin below the gearcase.
If broken, the skeg gard is what you want..

Re: Skeg

If that's a pic of the actual skeg you want to fix, a good alum welder can fix that in 5 minutes....

Re: Skeg

Yep, easy enough to weld it up and file it smooth.
If you want, you can add a skegguard over the top to reinforce it.
